Carve With Clay — Clay Workshop in Pune

Clay is the oldest creative material there is, and it still does something no screen can: it slows your hands down until your head follows. This is the workshop people describe afterwards as 'therapy that leaves you with a pot'.
In this session you'll shape a vessel or sculptural piece by hand, then carve patterns and textures into its surface — geometric lines, botanical motifs, or whatever your Sunday self comes up with. Everything happens at a relaxed pace in a beautiful Pune venue.

What is carve with clay?
Carve With Clay is a hand-building and carving workshop. You'll learn foundational techniques — pinching, coiling, smoothing — to build your form, then use carving tools to cut patterns into the surface while the clay is leather-firm.
We work with air-drying clay, which means no kiln is needed: your piece dries to a stone-like finish at home over a few days, ready to display exactly as you made it.
Why people love it
- It's the most hands-on, grounding experience we run — no gadgets, just mud and attention.
- Carving is deeply satisfying: every line you cut stays exactly where you put it.
- You leave with a functional, displayable object, not just a memory.
- It works equally well solo, as a date, or as a quiet team activity.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as a pottery wheel class?
Not quite — this session focuses on hand-building and carving, which most people find easier and more expressive than the wheel on a first attempt. Wheel demos are included at select sessions.
Do I get to take my clay piece home?
Yes, the same day. Air-drying clay hardens fully at home over 2–3 days — we'll pack it safely and give you simple drying instructions.
Will I actually manage to make something nice?
Yes. The forms we guide you through are designed to look good even with wobbles — in clay, the handmade quality is the charm. Our facilitators help whenever you want them to.
Is clay messy? What should I wear?
Pleasantly messy. Aprons are provided and the clay washes off hands and most fabrics easily, but wear something relaxed.
Can kids join the clay workshop?
Clay is our most kid-friendly medium — children 8+ are welcome at public sessions with an accompanying adult, and we run private kids' sessions on request.
